MY STORY
Rooted in Nature: My Journey Back to Healing
I like to say I was born vegetarian. Growing up, I naturally avoided meat not by choice, but by instinct. My mom says she never understood why; I’d simply separate the meat on my plate and give it to my brother. Ironically, my brother was allergic to protein back then, yet no one could stop him from sneaking huge bites! Thankfully, he outgrew it; a funny reminder that every body is different.
I’m not suggesting anyone should challenge allergies or push limits, today’s world is very different. Our environment, food quality, and health challenges have changed so much that now, more than ever, we need to be intentional about what we eat.
At sixteen, curiosity got the best of me. I tried meat and I loved it. For years, I enjoyed it freely until March 2019, when I made the decision to go vegan. It wasn’t an overnight change; it was a journey of rediscovery. Since then, I’ve embraced a mostly plant-based lifestyle, greatly minimizing processed foods and gradually shifting toward a 100% wholefood, plant-based way of eating. I’m not fully there yet, but I’m on that path and enjoying every step of the journey.
My passion for herbs came from my father. Growing up, we rarely went to hospitals not because we were lucky, but because my dad believed in miti shamba (traditional herbs). They were bitter, but he’d always sweeten them with a bit of honey. Between him and my mom who often reached for aloe vera or farm-grown remedies they planted in me a deep respect for nature’s healing power.
When I became vegan seven years ago, that seed grew into a full-blown passion. I began studying herbs, experimenting, learning, and experiencing the results firsthand. I’m still learning, but I’ve seen enough to know that nature truly heals.
I’ve also faced my share of health challenges. I’ve always been on the heavier side, but I never let that hold me back. I played sports, excelled in basketball during high school, and even played for a local club before university. But in 2025, I decided to take my health to the next level. I started the 60-Day Fast Track to Weight Loss as an experiment, and while I haven’t reached my goal yet, the transformation amazed me. It curbed my appetite, reconnected me with real, bitter, nourishing foods especially saget, a local plant also known as Spider Plant (Cleome gynandra) I’ve grown to love for its unique flavor and benefits.
Through this website, I’ll be sharing my journey; my experiences with weight loss, herbs, and holistic wellness honestly and openly.
You’re welcome to join our community forum, ask questions, or even participate in our annual 60-Day Fast Track Challenge, where we support one another through the ups and downs of weight loss, natural healing and healthy living.
Because true wellness isn’t a destination, it’s a journey we walk together.
